Cornell Lab FeederWatch Cam

Sapsucker Woods, Ithaca, New York

The Cornell Lab of Ornithology's flagship feeder cam overlooking Sapsucker Woods pond. One of the most-watched bird cams in the world, active since 2012. Watch dozens of species visit throughout the day — peak activity at dawn and dusk.

Species to Watch
Blue JaysBlack-capped ChickadeesTufted TitmiceRed-bellied WoodpeckersNorthern CardinalsAmerican Goldfinches

There is something meditative about watching birds go about their day — the squabble at the feeder, the patient incubation of eggs, the first wobbly flight of a fledgling.

All streams are free, courtesy of conservation organizations like the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Explore.org. Streams may go offline for maintenance or between nesting seasons.

Getting the Most from Live Cams

01
Early mornings and late afternoons are peak activity times at most feeder cams — set a reminder and tune in at dawn.
02
Nest cams are seasonal. Spring through early summer is prime nesting season in North America. Tropical and African cams run year-round.
03
Leave a cam running in a background tab — you will be surprised what shows up when you check back an hour later.
04
Time zones matter. African and European cams are active during their local daylight — check mornings EST for Kenya, afternoons for the UK.
05
Try full-screen on your TV. A live bird cam makes for a surprisingly calming ambient backdrop while you work or relax.
